Microsoft Teams is a workstream collaboration app which is redefining the category by adding in UC unified communications as a key modality.
As a core component of OfficeTeams allows users to communicate with employees, partners, clients, and more, regardless of location. It provides a common work space to share information and has baked-in features like document sharing, personal messaging, team and group chats, etc. According to Microsoft, the command bar was designed with four key functions in mind: Multi-tasking, taking quick actions, querying for data, and being extensible to other apps. It allows you to start tasks without losing context, navigate to different features of Teams to get things done in fewer steps, and allows you to search for and access data with your fingertips.
The ability for developers to extend the command functions to work for second and third party apps makes the command bar customizable to each organization.
The Microsoft Teams command bar can help in multi-tasking, navigation, and search in three different ways. The Microsoft Teams command bar serves as a place to take actions within the app, but also offers the ability to use keyboard shortcuts for navigation, messaging, meetings, calls and more. Once an outgoing webhook is added to a team, it acts like bot, listening in channels for messages using mentionsending notifications to external web services, and responding with rich messages that can include cards and images.
Scenario : Push change status notifications on a Teams channel database server to your app. Your service will receive messages in the standard Azure bot service messaging schema. See also About Azure Bot Service. Outgoing webhooks are scoped to the team level and are visible to all members of the team.
Just like a bot, users ae required to mention the name of the outgoing webhook to invoke it in the channel. Responses from your outgoing webhook will appear in the same reply chain as the original message. When the user performs a query, Microsoft Teams issues a synchronous HTTP request to your service and your code will have 5 seconds to respond to the message before the connection times out and terminates.

They're incredibly flexible — conversational bots can be scoped to handling a few simple commands or complex, artificial-intelligence-powered and natural-language-processing virtual assistants. They can be one aspect of a larger application, or completely stand-alone. The GIF below shows a user conversing with a bot in a one-to-one chat using both text and interactive cards. Finding the right mix of cards, text, and task modules is key to creating a useful bot. Don't forget, bots are much more than just text!
If you already have a bot that's based on the Bot Framework, you can easily adapt it to work in Microsoft Teams. We recommend you use either C or Node. It also contains a React control library and an interactive card builder.Hydro systems customer service
See Getting started with Teams App Studio. Webhooks and connectors allow you to create a simple bot for basic interaction, like kicking off a workflow or other simple commands. They live only in the team in which you create them and are intended for simple processes specific to your company's workflow.
See What are webhooks and connectors? Bots in Microsoft Teams can be part of a one-to-one conversation, a group chat, or a channel in a Team. Each scope will provide unique opportunities, and challenges, for your conversational bot.
Channels contain threaded conversations between multiple people — potentially lots of people currently, up to two thousand. This potentially gives your bot massive reach, but individual interactions need to be concise.
Traditional multi-turn interactions probably won't work well. Instead, look to use interactive cards or task modules, or potentially move the conversation to a one-to-one conversation if you need to collect lots of information.
Your bot will also only have access to messages where it's mentioned directly, you cannot retrieve additional messages from the conversation using Microsoft Graph and elevated organization-level permissions. Group chats are non-threaded conversations between three or more people. For those who are new to Microsoft Teams, refer to the above post to learn more about its features, including navigation, chat, teams, meetings, files, channels, and tabs.
Add to that growing list file shares and all the documents on their desktop and you end up with a little bit of chaos everywhere. Users simply refused to navigate to the browser to open SharePoint and upload documents there as well. Now, all of that has changed. Microsoft Teams introduced a desktop app, where users can add, customize, and find everything they need in one place.
This is where the real magic happens. It also creates an Office Group for that team i. Inside of each Microsoft Team, you can add channels, where you can focus content and conversations.
